Refining Felicity by Marion Chesney, 167 pages
This is the first volume in The School For Manners, set in Regency England. The Tribble sisters, Effy and Amy, have been having difficulties. Neither married, and while they have not given hope just yet, they are certainly well past the average age of eligibility. They are very nearly destitute but refuse to sell their home and have been expecting to inherit their elderly aunt’s estate when she dies. When the inheritance falls through, the sisters advertise themselves as professional chaperones for difficult young ladies. Lady Felicity becomes their first challenge. At 19, she is supposed to have her debut into society but she enjoys dressing as a man and riding in hunts and other behavior unbecoming to a young lady. Can the sisters successfully launch her into society and find her a husband? This is a light-hearted, relatively funny, only slightly steamy, romance.
